KC NARI Selected As ISD Academy “Business Partner Of The Year”

KC NARI Selected as ISD Academy “Business Partner of the Year”

For the third year in a row, KC NARI has been selected as the Industrial Technology Academy “Business Partner of the Year” for the Independence School District Academies. KC NARI’s partnership helps to provide ISD students with the guidance and experiences to excel in their fields of interest.

KC NARI’s partnership with ISD Academies is an initiative of our Futures Fund. The Kansas City NARI Futures Fund was established as a way to enhance and promote careers in the remodeling industry. The Kansas City NARI Futures Fund focuses fundraising and giving efforts toward attracting individuals to careers in the industry. This includes improving training, educational and job opportunities that are available from remodeling contractors, subcontractors, and related supplier companies.

Since the fall of 2016, more than $120,000 has been donated to Kansas City NARI Futures Fund and more than $78,000 has been given to area school districts’ construction trades programs and non-profit organizations with a construction-related focus.

Words of Appreciation from ISD Academy

“Our partnership with NARI has been instrumental in improving the quality of relevant instruction to our students. KC NARI has provided ongoing job shadowing opportunities, participated in our own district-run career fairs and sponsored its own career fair and ensured we were invited. This is not all, however. NARI gives out grants yearly to improve the equipment and opportunities in our classrooms. For the past several years, we’ve accessed those grants to help our students pay for field trips to local construction companies or job sites. As well, those grants have been instrumental in helping our introductory classes ensure we have quality equipment to use. NARI continues to provide ongoing guest speakers, so our students hear first-hand about particular trades and the realities of the workplace. NARI members have also volunteered on our own construction site and currently sit on our advisory board for our construction trades program.  All of these things are so important to the ongoing work of developing the upcoming workforce.”

~ Aaron Smith, Career & Tech Ed Coordinator, Independence Arts & Technology

“With the grants the ISD Construction Trades program has received from NARI, we’ve been able to attend several field trips that greatly benefit our students. The NARI grant has provided for transportation to the NARI Career Fair, KC Home and Remodel Show, Builder’s Association Tour, iBuild Showcase and the KC Home & Garden Show. NARI has also provided many guest speakers willing to come to our class and share their expertise and advice to students who are interested in the remodeling industry as a profession.”
